L3Harris PC refresh

The project

I worked as a field engineer on a PC refresh for L3Harris, the aerospace and defense technology company. The goal was seamless PC upgrades with expert coordination, giving users a smooth transition to their new computers and keeping operations running well.

What a PC refresh involves

A PC refresh replaces older computers with new ones across an organization. Done well, people barely notice the change except that their computer is faster. On a refresh like this, the field engineer’s job is to:

• Coordinate each swap with users and the client’s IT team so work isn’t interrupted.
• Install and set up each new PC so it’s ready to use.
• Help users through the transition so they can get right back to work.
• Remove the old equipment and confirm everything on the new machine works.

In an aerospace and defense environment, careful coordination and following the client’s procedures matter even more, and that kind of discipline is what I bring to every job.

The site

The refresh took place at an L3Harris government facility in Melbourne, Florida. Along with upgrading laptops and desktops, the project included software licensing for the new machines, and working in a government facility meant following the client’s procedures to the letter.
