The project
For SunTrust, I worked as a field engineer on a migration from Windows XP to Windows 7 together with a network upgrade. The project improved efficiency at SunTrust locations across the Southeast.
SunTrust was a major Atlanta-based bank. It merged with BB&T in 2019 to form Truist.
Why it mattered
Moving off Windows XP was an important step for any business, and especially for a bank. Newer systems are more secure, better supported and faster. Pairing the PC migration with a network upgrade meant each location got both modern computers and a better network to run them on.
What the work involves
- Migrating users from Windows XP to Windows 7 while keeping their files and settings.
- Upgrading network equipment and connections so the new systems run smoothly.
- Testing that every workstation and connection works before the branch is back to business as usual.
- Working around bank hours so customers and staff aren’t disrupted.
Network deployments are one of my specialties, and I bring the tools and know-how to get them done right.
More than a desktop upgrade
Along with the Windows 7 migration and network upgrade, the project included server replacement and on-site training support, helping staff get comfortable with their new systems.
How I work on projects like this
- On time, every time: clients count on my timeliness and dependability, especially when the schedule is tight.
- Built for live environments: I work around production so people can keep doing their jobs while their equipment is upgraded.
- Direct communication: I keep the client and their staff updated from start to finish.
- Strong troubleshooting: experience across every phase of computer systems means problems get solved on the spot instead of holding up the schedule.
